ABOUT CATHERINE FITZGERALD, PH.D.

Catherine is principal of Fitzgerald Consulting, a company that offers executive coaching to senior executives. She helps executives to identify areas of unique strength and vision, assess areas of leadership risk, strategize about key relationships, and promote the immediate and long-term success of their companies. Her clients have included Coderyte, the Inter-American Development Bank, Lockheed Martin, the National Cooperative Bank, National Public Radio, Price Waterhouse Coopers, the World Bank, and the World Resources Institute.

Catherine is co-editor of Executive Coaching: Practices and Perspectives (Davies Black, 2002), a book that focuses on leading-edge approaches to executive coaching. In that volume, she contributed chapters on complexity of mind and leadership, the development of executives at midlife, and the integration of business strategy models and concepts into executive coaching practice. She is also co-editor of Developing Leaders: Research and Applications in Psychological Type and Leadership Development (Davies Black, 1997), for which she contributed chapters on psychological type and leadership, the application of type dynamics to leadership development, and the link between type development and leadership development.

Catherine has been an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University, the National Leadership Institute of the University of Maryland University College, the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland at College Park, and the School of Public Affairs at the University of Maryland at College Park. She has presented at conferences and taught courses on executive coaching and leadership development both in the United States and internationally.

She has a Ph.D. in psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed an internship in psychology at Yale University.
