3. Seth Godin and Positive Psychology—and You
In
2003, I heard Marty Seligman say that one of his goals
was to help positive psychology sweep across the world.
(You may remember another variation: To increase the total
tonnage of happiness in the world.) If this is a goal
of yours, Seth is your man.
If
you are a coach, your clients will often want to help their
business and their ideas impact the culture. How do you
coach them? You have to hear Seth.
And
you, yourself, may want your coaching or consulting practice
(or a charitable cause) to penetrate the culture. If
so, you've got to hear Seth's interview--it is terrific. (See
the testimonials below.)
Seth
is arguably the world's leading expert on the virtual
dissemination of ideas and on virtual marketing. He's
the best selling author of 12 books. His blog
is read by well over 500,000 readers a day. His first internet
company, Yoyodyne, was acquired by Yahoo in 1998. He's
also the founder and CEO of Squidoo.
His
latest book, Linchpin:
Are You Indispensible?, was published
two days ago and spent opening day at #7 on Amazon.com's Best
Seller List. It is currently #19 and #1 in Business and
Investing Books.
About
Linchpin:
"Thousands of authors
write business books every year, but only a handful reach
star status and the A-list lecture circuit. Fewer still
- one, to be exact - can boast his own action figure....Godin
delivers his combination of counterintuitive thinking and
a great sense of fun." -BusinessWeek

4. What People
Are Saying About Seth's Interview
Please
note -- this is a great interview. We've seldom received
the huge positive evaluations that Seth generated.
Below are a few of the emails I received about Seth.
For a longer list, click
here.
“Outstanding
session with Seth Godin! Great questions…and great
answers. Well worth the time. I've forwarded my notes to colleagues
and encouraged them to sign up for the encore presentation.”
“That
was an amazing interview with Seth Godin. I was really struck
by what he said and I have since joined his blog list.”
“WOW
What a great interview. I just
finished ordering a slew of Seth's books for my adult children.
Thank you, Ben, for the wonderful opportunities you offer
to keep me excited about my world and my profession!”
“Thank
you so much from across the oceans - this Q&A has been
such a gift! reading Seth's books is already quite an inspiration.
"listening" to what he says... the integrity, humbleness
& wisdom in his words touched core. put the brightest
smile on my face. .....gentle gratefulness & wildly dancing
snowflakes from good old Germany.”
“Fantastic
stuff. Gave us the freedom to be different and the counterintuitive
notion that practice doesn't always make for perfect coaches.
Loved his contrast with Gladwell. And loved the practical
advice about building a religion or rock band, using blogs
etc.”
“Thanks
for a great call! I was quite taken by the Seth's matter-of-fact,
truth on the table-approach. Painful to listen to, but felt
nice and refreshing afterwards, like swimming in really cold
water. Your question about introverts was very relevant to
me. Being introvert my self I've hesitated to publish my strong
opinions about where we're going and what to do about it on
the internet. I realize I have to be bold, brave and take
risks. NOW!”
“The
interview with Seth Godin was a delight. I found him to be
candid, authentic, reflective, and self reflective...... I
have subscribed to his blog, ordered his new book, and forwarded
your e-mails to a bunch of colleagues and friends. Thank you
for your kindness and generosity.”
